Thank you for all you are doing for the citizens of ND for today and tomorrow. Local government is the backbone of response to any crisis, and your work is critical.
Here are a few HR updates.
HR Today and Beyond, the 6th Human Resource Conference for Local Government scheduled for April 21 and 22, 2020 at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck has been postponed. We originally were hoping to reschedule to June but in light of the current situation, we may need to postpone until August. If you have registered and not paid, please refrain from paying at this time. If you have paid and we cancel the conference, your registration will be refunded.
If you made hotel reservations at the Ramkota Hotel under the HR Conference room block, the Ramkota will automatically cancel your reservation. If you made hotel reservations at another hotel, it is your responsibility to cancel your reservation.
HUMAN RESOURCE INFORMATION
Over the next several weeks you will be hearing the term ESSENTIAL SERVICES. ESSENTIAL SERVICES are those functions/duties that will be exempt from a Stay at Home order. If the Governor decides to pursue a state-wide Stay at Home order, ESSENTIAL SERVICE WORKERS are allowed to go to work. Each state has its own definition of ESSENTIAL SERVICES. North Dakota has not been made public at this time.
Many local government functions are important. You may want to work with your elected officials or local response team to clarify which positions are Essential Workers at your organization. Many businesses are currently issuing cards or letters to their Essential Workers identifying them as Essential Service Workers.
ND DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE & LABOR RESOURCES
Due to the recent health crisis, employers and employees are faced with new questions regarding regulations and rights for both employees and employers. The North Dakota Department of Commerce and the North Dakota Department of Labor and Human Rights are working together to ensure resources and guidance are provided to all residents of North Dakota.
In this section you will find information pertaining to laws and regulations that may affect employees and employers during a health crisis. Topics include PTO, employee statuses, remote working, job duties and guidance for union members.
This site is designed for the private business sector, but it appears that many of the recommendations also apply to the public sector.
Thank you again for all you do to support your local communities and people.
