About the Instructor
Rick Diegel
Rick is the son of a 5th grade teacher who taught in the same school for over 40 years, so education has been a part of his life for as long as he can remember. Rick’s wife, Paula, has been a 1st grade teacher for over 25 years. They have three children: Brittany and her husband live in Bismarck and she is a speech pathologist for St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, Beau is a JH social studies teacher and coach in Linton, and their youngest son, Trey, attends NDSCS in Wahpeton to be an electrician. Rick and Paula also have two grandchildren
Rick’s first year of teaching was in Cresbard, South Dakota, where he taught social studies and coached from 1987 – 1996. He began his administrative career in the fall of 1996 when his family moved to Edgeley, North Dakota as a junior high/high school principal. He became the Superintendent of Schools in Edgeley in the summer of 2000, where he remained until 2015.
Rick’s family moved to Steele, North Dakota where he became Superintendent of Schools for the Kidder County School District in 2015. This is where Rick remains today. He is proud to say that this is his 36th year in education, and he has only worked in three school districts.

The instructor will provide you with guidance on the final exam during class.
After you have viewed all the course materials, you may take your final exam. You may use your lecture notes and course resources to answer these questions. No proctor form is required. Students will have until TBD to submit the final exam. Email the final exam to Rick Diegel at rick.diegel@k12.nd.us with a cc to Patty VerDouw at patty.verdouw@ndsba.org.
